Laser Hair Restoration

The treatment of hair using lasers is most commonly used in the removal of unwanted hair, but strangely, lasers can also be used to help halt and recover hair loss.

Laser hair restoration treatments were originally available at certain hair clinics and involved the customer having to have a special dome aligned over their head. This then applied the required low temperature laser light. Now, however, the technology has been developed so that it can be applied safely at home using a specially designed laser hair comb.

For treatment of hair loss, laser light is applied to the hair and scalp using the laser comb. Treatment is normally carried out a few times a week by combing the hair and scalp very slowly for about 15 minutes.

The idea is that the laser light frequencies stimulate the scalp and hair follicle allowing the improvement of blood flow to the hair follicle and also improving the ability of the hair follicle to absorb nutrients. This encourages existing hair to grow thicker and more strongly and over time may enable dormant follicles to recover and resume growth.

At first they may seem expensive, but if you compare this with the cost of buying many topical treatments for a period of 18 months, you will often find that the cost of a laser comb is significantly cheaper.
